Qualifications
- Education: BS degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from an approved program
- Licensure: Must have and maintain current National Registry
- Must have and maintain current Mississippi Professional Dietitians license
- Experience: At least one year as a clinical dietitian
Responsibilities
- Provides nutritional consultative services to patients
- The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the planning and implementation of Medical Nutrition Therapy for Acute Care Patients
- Evaluate and assess the nutritional status of high-risk patients according to department policies and established standards of care
- Calculates Nutritional requirements and diet restrictions as indicated
- Establishes Nutrition care plan by applying critical thinking and effectively communicates professional judgment to the healthcare team
- Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of care plan and adjusts as needed
- Educates and counsels patients and caregivers on Medical Nutrition Therapy
- Demonstrates compliance with and support for the Core Principles and Code of Conduct
- Participates as a team member to help achieve clinical goals, clinical measures, and customer satisfaction
- Complies with all regulatory standards including federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies
